West of England is setting up an office in what it described as a highly significant market for the mutual marine insurer.
Announcing the expansion, the Club said the West of England Insurance Services (North America) Inc. office will be located in New York. Working in conjunction with the claims, underwriting, and loss prevention teams based in London, the US office will not only service North American members but also explore new relationships with both brokers and shipowners.

The marine insurer did not provide a specific timeline but revealed that the new location will open “in the near future.” It will be headed by Paul Barnes, a recent addition to the West of England team.
“Full contact details for the office will be published in due course, but Paul Barnes’ contact details will be available on the Club’s website shortly,” said West of England managing director Thomas Bowsher.
Aside from London, West of England also has offices in Hong Kong, Greece, Singapore, and Luxembourg. The Club provides its worldwide membership of shipowners, charterers, and operators with liability insurance and related services.
