Novacore has agreed to acquire Diesel Insurance Solutions, a California-based MGU that specializes in physical damage and cargo cover for trucking companies operating across the US-Mexico border.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Diesel will join Novacore’s Specialty Transportation segment, adding a dedicated cross-border trucking and cargo platform for carriers and logistics operators. Novacore said it expects Diesel to expand beyond physical damage and cargo into other specialty transportation lines.

Diesel’s founder, Jason Wexler, will continue to lead the business, and its full team will join Novacore.

“Diesel brings deep underwriting expertise and a strong niche in an underserved corner of the transportation market,” said Aaron Miller, Novacore’s chief executive.

Wexler said joining Novacore would give Diesel access to a large agent network, new technology and the resources to grow into new lines.

A busy year of deals

The Diesel deal is the latest step in Novacore’s expansion in 2026. The Conshohocken, Pennsylvania-based company, which builds on the 35-year history of NSM Insurance Group, says it works with more than 20,000 agents nationwide and offers more than 20 specialty programs.

So far this year, Novacore has agreed to acquire CP Insurance Associates, a Texas-based lender-placed insurance and financial institutions specialist, and real estate insurance provider Minglewood Risk. In April it launched Zion Underwriting, a transactional risk program, and it has also set up a sidecar backed by New Mountain Capital to expand capacity for its specialty programs.

What it means for brokers

Cross-border trucking is one of the harder parts of the transportation market to place. US-Mexico operations involve equipment and cargo moving between two legal and insurance systems, along freight corridors exposed to theft. Few markets have the appetite or expertise to write the business. That makes specialist MGUs like Diesel valuable to the retail agents and wholesalers who handle these accounts.

For agents with cross-border clients, the deal offers the prospect of broader cover from a single source. If Novacore expands Diesel into additional lines as planned, agents could place more of a cross-border carrier’s program in one place rather than piecing it together across several markets.

The open question is capacity. Novacore hasn’t said which carriers back Diesel’s programs, or whether its new sidecar capacity will support the expansion into new lines. Agents will want to know both before relying on the expanded offering.
