Relation Insurance Services has acquired the assets of LaPlaca Insurance, a Chalfont, Pennsylvania agency serving the greater Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey areas, effective June 30, 2026.
Terms were not disclosed.
LaPlaca Insurance was founded in 1988 by Anne La Placa's father and offers business insurance, employee benefits and personal lines solutions across Pennsylvania and several other states. Anne La Placa, who serves as vice president, said finding a partner that shared the agency's values was central to the decision.
Tim Hall, Relation's chief executive officer, cited the agency's client retention as a defining factor.
"The LaPlaca team brings a combined 140 years of insurance experience to the table. With retention rates consistently in the high 90th percentile, it's clear they have a deep commitment to their clients. This level of experience and passion for the customer makes them a perfect fit for Relation," Hall said.
The LaPlaca acquisition adds to Relation's existing Pennsylvania presence and gives the firm deeper reach into the greater Philadelphia corridor and its adjacent New York and New Jersey markets, a densely populated tri-state region where independent agency relationships and local market knowledge carry particular weight in commercial and personal lines placement.
Relation, backed by private equity and consistently ranked among the largest independent brokerages in the US, has pursued a steady pace of acquisitions across multiple states throughout 2025 and 2026, typically targeting established, retention-focused agencies with strong local roots rather than larger platform deals.
For independent agency owners in the mid-Atlantic region, the LaPlaca deal illustrates how Relation structures these transactions: preserving the acquired agency's local identity and leadership, in this case keeping La Placa in a named leadership role, while adding access to the broader platform's resources, carrier relationships and capabilities.
Owners of similarly sized, multi-generational agencies in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York who are thinking about succession or growth capital may find this deal a useful reference point for how Relation approaches family-founded agencies specifically.
