Specialty reinsurance company Chaucer has announced the appointment of Colm Sheedy (pictured) as class underwriter to work on the company’s US general liability account which focuses on large wholesale facultative businesses. Sheedy will work with Joe Murphy, senior class underwriter, to support the company’s growth plans following a significant increase in US general liability capacity for 2020, including a maximum line size of $10 million.

Sheedy has nearly a decade of underwriting experience. Prior to joining Chaucer, he worked on Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty’s US liability account. He has also held positions at Travelers and Chubb.

“Colm is a talented underwriter, and I am confident that his excellent underwriting experience and expertise will be a valuable asset to brokers and clients as we grow our presence in the US general liability market,” said Ed Lines, active underwriter for Chaucer’s Syndicate 1084.

“I admire the US general liability business that Joe Murphy has built at Chaucer, and look forward to working closely with him to deliver more first-class products and services to Chaucer’s GL brokers and clients in the US,” Sheedy said.
