Insurance Technologies Corporation (ITC), a provider of insurance software and services, has announced that it has acquired Smart Harbor, a company that provides digital technology to insurance agents. Smart Harbor was founded as an operating unit of The Shipyard, an Ohio-based digital marketing firm.

Smart Harbor works with more than 1,000 independent insurance agents by providing them with technical expertise, industry knowledge and digital products and services including websites, smart forms, SEO and data analytics capabilities.

“Smart Harbor and ITC help more than 25% of independent insurance agents in the United States with their online presence,” said Laird Rixford, CEO of ITC. “This acquisition will help us expand our service offerings to our clients and continue our leadership in insurance agency marketing solutions.”

Through the acquisition, Smart Harbor clients will have access to ITC’s suite of marketing products and services, and ITC’s clients will benefit from Smart Harbor’s expertise in providing strategic marketing decisions, ITC said.

“ITC is a great culture match for Smart Harbor because of their mutual commitment to and passion for helping insurance agents improve their online presence to grow their business,” said Rick Milenthal, CEO of The Shipyard. “Together, ITC and Smart Harbor will be a powerhouse in the industry with their combined knowledge and experience.”

The sale does not include any of The Shipyard’s other marketing operations.
