Texas Mutual Insurance Company, a provider of workers' compensation insurance, has announced the recipients of the second round of its 2024 request for proposal initiative.
The company is allocating over $4.5 million in grants to nearly 70 organizations statewide to support workforce development and safety training programs.
This funding is part of Texas Mutual’s broader 2024 initiative, which includes an $8 million commitment to nonprofit organizations. The funding focuses on two key areas: generational learning for working families and workforce development and safety training.

Jackie Sekiguchi, community affairs manager at Texas Mutual, said the company remains committed to promoting safe workplaces and values the contributions of nonprofits in this effort.
"We’re proud to support them in strengthening the Texas workforce and hope that our investments help ensure they can continue to deliver on their initiatives," said Sekiguchi.
The grants were awarded to organizations addressing specific objectives. These include training the current and future workforce in safe work practices, particularly in high-risk industries or occupations. They also focus on developing pathways to in-demand, middle-skill jobs, and supporting earn-and-learn programs designed to upskill and reskill adult learners.
To qualify for the grants, applicants were required to meet specific criteria. They had to be Texas-based, hold 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and demonstrate active engagement in providing services to Texas communities within the designated focus areas.
The $4.5 million in funding represents a significant portion of the total $8 million Texas Mutual has earmarked for 2024. This initiative highlights the company’s emphasis on improving workforce safety and enhancing opportunities for skill development across the state.
In 2023, Texas Mutual awarded grants totaling nearly $4 million to support workplace development and safety training initiatives. These grants were distributed to almost 60 organizations, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to advancing workforce safety and education.
