Texas Mutual Insurance Co. announced it will award $8 million in grant funding to Texas nonprofits through two community grant programs designed to support working families and workforce development.
The Austin-based workers’ compensation insurer will distribute the funds through its Working Texans Economic Opportunity and Texas Workforce Development grant programs, marking the sixth consecutive year the company has invested in nonprofit organizations supporting working families and businesses.
Texas Mutual noted it has awarded more than $120 million to Texas communities over the past decade.
“We’re proud to support the communities we serve and view this funding as a meaningful step toward a stronger Texas,” said Veronica Martinez, senior manager of impact and community partnerships at Texas Mutual. “By investing in organizations that remove barriers for working Texans, we’re helping create opportunities that reach beyond today and into the next generation. We’re honored to partner with these leaders as they strengthen families, fuel local economies, and move our state forward.”
Funding will be distributed across two grant cycles. The first cycle, now open for applications, targets initiatives that stabilize working households. Eligible projects must focus on expanding access to early childhood education for children ages 0–5, increasing access to primary care for working Texans, or facilitating access to basic needs that support long-term economic mobility. Applications close at 11:59 pm CDT on May 15. Texas Mutual will host an informational webinar on April 22 at 11 am CDT for prospective applicants.
The second grant cycle, opening Aug. 10, will focus on workforce development and safety training. Priority areas include preparing Texans for high-growth, middle-skill jobs through apprenticeships or postsecondary credentials, supporting small business resilience and job growth, and connecting opportunity youth to career pathways. Applications for the second cycle close at 11:59 pm CDT on Sept. 11.
Grant awards will range from $25,000 to $100,000, depending on project needs and organization size. To qualify, applicants must hold 501(c)(3) status and demonstrate active delivery of services to Texas communities.
