Jo-Anne joined ARAG as CEO in 2018 for the next phase of its development in Canada. Since joining, MacDonald has developed a deep passion for the ARAG mission of ensuring that access to the justice system is affordable for all Canadians, regardless of their means. “Whether you’re a small business just finding your feet or a family struggling to pay the bills, you should be able to assert your legal rights, regardless of your personal circumstances,” she says. Over a decade in the insurance industry, MacDonald has worked from the Maritimes to Vancouver, for businesses such as First Canadian Title, Chicago Title Insurance Company and Verge Insurance Group, where she was vice president of sales and marketing. MacDonald completed her bachelor’s in literature from St Thomas University and has also taken several other courses over the years to improve her skillset including a finance program from Ivey Business School at Western University. MacDonald was a speaker at the Insurance Business Women in Insurance Summit in Toronto earlier this year.
