In May 2018, Scott Purviance succeeded M Steven DeCarlo as CEO of AmWINS Group, putting him at the helm of one of the largest independent wholesale distributors of specialty insurance products in the US. AmWINS Group operates through more than 115 offices globally and handles annual premium placements in excess of $15.3 billion. Purviance was one of AmWINS’ first employees, joining in 2001 as CFO. He took on the additional role of COO in 2012 and has served on AmWINS’ board of directors since 2015. “[Pruviance] is a remarkable leader who is responsible for a great deal of the firm’s success over the last 17 years,” said DeCarlo following Purviance’s appointment to CEO. “He has the drive, passion and ability to continue executing our 150-year vision.” Prior to joining AmWINS, Purviance was VP of finance for the business insurance division of Royal & SunAlliance US, and was also part of the insurance services assurance practice at PwC.
