Job title: Vice President Financial Institutions & Professional Services Practice

Shirley Chisholm, client executive and VP financial institutions and professional services practice, studied business administration at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica before immigrating to Canada, where she completed her insurance program with the Insurance Institute of Canada. In addition, she is a fellow of IIC, has completed the Canadian Risk Management program and is a member of the Global Risk Management Institute. Throughout the course of her career, Chisholm has been involved in numerous organisations and initiatives, including speaker and coach for Black Canadian Women EmpowerHer, co-founder of Ebony Women Insurance Network, president of Gundy Gabbers Toastmasters, and inductee to Black Canadian Awards’ National Wall of Role Models. In 2019, she also served as a moderator at IBC’s Women in Insurance Toronto conference. At the conference, she made a very important point that although the industry was moving from a state of unconsciousness into consciousness regarding diversity and inclusion, it would soon become time to turn awareness into action. According to her, the industry is still lacking stats and quantum proof of where things stand.
