Owie Lei Agbontaen began his career in 2016 and quickly made a name for himself in the New York and Boston insurance markets. Now based in Chicago, Agbontaen serves as a senior underwriter and business development lead for the Midwest at Sompo Global Risk Solutions, where he’s responsible for growing Sompo’s middle-market business in the region from the ground up.
Agbontaen was a founding member of NAAIA’s Boston chapter, as well as a founding member of the Board of Young Professionals for the Steppingstone Foundation, an organization that helps students from historically marginalized communities access, navigate and graduate from college.
“As the industry starts to get older and the world starts to evolve, I would like to see a greater wave of the younger generation joining the industry and creating insurance solutions that are truly new and innovative,” Agbontaen says. “An industry that evolves with the world should also contain new ways of thinking from generations that are fully immersed in these new challenges.”
