Starting at CAL Insurance as part of a summer internship in high school, Joseph DeLucchi worked his way up the ranks into a leadership role. Now as president of the firm, DeLucchi continues to see himself as a broker in the truest sense of the word: purchasing policies and programs from different carriers to best meet his clients’ needs. DeLucchi primarily focuses on serving the nonprofit/school, real estate, and food and beverage industries.
He believes that building a practice through a referral-based program is imperative for long-term success.
“Networking and eventually developing a friendship over time with key strategic partners such as attorneys, accountants, bankers, other insurance professionals, interim CFOs/COOs, management consultants and the like is extremely important,” DeLucchi says. “I don’t do ‘quotes’ or ‘bids’; I’d rather do client partnerships.”
