Allianz Commercial has appointed Sean O’Grady as head of property in Canada, part of a broader set of leadership changes within the company’s North American operations.

Based in Toronto, O’Grady succeeds Nancy Dorvil, who has been promoted to regional head of property for North America.

O’Grady brings over 15 years of insurance experience, having held underwriting and leadership roles at Zurich across Australia and Canada. Most recently, he served as vice president of national accounts underwriting at Zurich Canada. Prior to his time at Zurich, he worked at Suncorp Group as a risk solutions officer.

The appointment reflects Allianz Commercial’s continued focus on strengthening its leadership and capabilities across key business lines. It follows the March appointment of Lara Martiner as global head of alternative risk transfer at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE.

As part of its broader strategic push to grow in specific distribution channels, the company recently announced the appointment of Jenna Contreras to the newly created role of portfolio solutions leader for wholesale and managing general agents (MGAs)/programs.

Contreras will report to Paul McGuigan, regional head of strategic relationships. The role supports Allianz Commercial’s plans to expand its reach within the MGA and wholesale market segments across North America.

The company has also named Sandra Lee as head of claims, Canada, effective immediately. Lee replaces Bernard McNulty, who continues to serve as chief agent for Allianz Commercial Canada.

Lee joined Allianz Commercial in August 2024 as director of long-tail claims, where she managed the Canadian portfolio of corporate liability, excess, and financial lines claims. She has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and has held various leadership roles before joining Allianz.

These appointments are part of Allianz Commercial’s ongoing efforts to enhance its regional leadership structure and expand its capabilities in key areas of the commercial insurance market.
