Atlantic Canada-based Archway Insurance has boosted its scale-up mission with the acquisition of Nova Scotia-based brokerage, J.H. Deveau Insurance of Meteghan.

Archway Insurance CEO Michael Stack described the firms as “a natural fit” as “both are community-focused family businesses.” The acquisition builds on Archway’s “solid client base” in Southern Nova Scotia, he added.

This latest deal takes the number of Archway locations to 24 with approximately 50,000 clients and $110 million in premium volume. The brokerage has come a long way since opening its first location in Yarmouth, NS, back in 1985.

J.H. Deveau should enjoy enhanced commercial capabilities as a result of the deal, along with new life, travel, and employee benefits products to offer to clients. Jean Guy Comeau, president of J.H. Deveau, will continue to manage the operation with high quality client-first service remaining the focus.

He commented: “Our employees are excited about the added benefits of joining Archway, and pleased to remain in our Meteghan office to continue providing local service and expert insurance advice to our clients.”
