Bermuda-based Ascot Group Limited has appointed Joe Roberts and Rob Dimsey as chief financial officer and chief operating officer, respectively.

Prior to Ascot, three-decade industry veteran Roberts was CFO and executive team member at Ironshore. The key hire, who also served as CFO at Alterra Capital Holdings Limited, has been working in Bermuda’s financial services sector since 1994.

“Ascot has very talented underwriting teams with strong leadership and long-term capital provided by its owner Canada Pension Plan Investment Board,” noted Roberts. “I am excited to join AGL and contribute to its plans to build its businesses around the globe.”

Chief executive Andrew Brooks said Roberts’ experience will be invaluable as Ascot eyes expansion. “I am delighted to welcome Joe to AGL as chief financial officer,” he commented.

Meanwhile the holding company promoted Dimsey, who joined Ascot Underwriting Ltd in 2003. He was named COO and Ascot Underwriting Board member in 2008. Effective immediately, he becomes COO of Ascot Group.

“Rob’s promotion to Group COO of AGL is a natural progression of his Ascot career and in a key role to move the business forward,” said Brooks.
