Aviva Canada has today announced a huge cross-border deal with leading US insurer, The Hartford. Under the new strategic partnership, Aviva Canada’s small & medium enterprise (SME) and large commercial insurance brokers and clients will gain access to The Hartford’s operations, assets and service capabilities in the US.

John Mattioli, executive director, Global Corporate & Specialty at Aviva Canada, commented: “For us, being competitive in commercial lines means being where our customers are, and with hundreds of billions of bilateral trade conducted annually between Canada and the United States, this partnership allows us to provide a range of solutions for our customers’ exposures south of the border.”

Mattioli described The Hartford as “the ideal partner” in Aviva Canada’s next phase of growth because the two insurance firms share similar values and have many years of industry experience.

As well as offering Aviva customers policies in the US and Canada, the insurer has also joined The Hartford’s Global Insurer Network. As part of this network, Aviva Canada will service policies across their global network for The Hartford’s US-based customers who transact business in other countries.

“As we continue to expand our multinational capabilities, we’re pleased to have Aviva join The Hartford’s Global Insurer Network,” said Mo Tooker, head of Middle and Large Commercial insurance at The Hartford. “Doing business abroad presents a new set of risks and we are committed to providing our customers with comprehensive insurance solutions where they need it.”
