Greg Somerville has today been appointed president and CEO of Aviva Canada, stepping up from his current position as executive vice president of broker distribution.
“Greg Somerville is a well-recognized and established executive in the Canadian property and casualty market, with strong and long-standing relationships with brokers across the Canadian market,” said Mark Wilson, group chief executive officer of Aviva. “The appointment of Greg reflects the depth and quality of Aviva’s senior team in Canada. Greg will ensure a seamless management transition in the business for our employees, customers and brokers.”
Somerville joined Aviva in 1992, eventually becoming the executive vice president of claims and reinsurance, and responsible for the technical and strategic direction of Aviva Canada’s national claims and reinsurance operations.

Somerville has been part of the Aviva Canada Executive Committee since 2004. Reporting directly to Mark Wilson, Somerville will be responsible for the direction of one of the major components of the Aviva Group. (continued.)
