Canada Life has revealed the charities which will be receiving this year’s 2020 “Seasonal Gift” donations.

The insurer has selected six charities, which will each receive a one-time donation of $10,000. The charities were selected from a list of applicants that had registered back in October. After applications closed, Canada Life employees were then invited to vote on which charity in their local area they wanted to receive the donation.

The six charities selected are 1JustCity in Winnipeg, MB; Carmichael Outreach in Regina, SK; Honoring Indigenous Peoples (HIP) Charitable Corporation in Toronto, ON; Mères Avec Pouvoir in Montreal, QC; SARA for Women Society in Mission, BC; and The Sunshine Foundation of Canada in London, ON.

"The needs in our communities this year are unique, and so was our approach," said Canada Life president and COO Jeff Macoun. "Registered charities are working harder than ever to support Canadians, but we recognize that they're seeing less financial support because of the pandemic.”

Canada Life typically selects one charity for a seasonal donation each year, but the company chose to do things differently this year due to 2020’s unprecedented financial difficulties.

“That's why we increased our donation amount to $60,000 this year and split it between six charities from coast to coast – to make an even bigger impact,” Macoun stated.
