Another Ontario-based insurer has jumped on the eDocs’ bandwagon, achieving certification from the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO).

“Unica is very proud to receive formal recognition of our eDocs solution by CSIO’s Certification program,” said Martin Delage, President and COO at Unica Insurance. “Since our initial roll-out back in October 2013, we’re thrilled to see the majority of our broker partners have elected to receive their policy documents electronically.”

For Unica, eDocs will be extended to its commercial policy documents.

“In keeping with Unica’s commitment to technology investment to help our brokers, we have now expanded our eDocs offering to include Commercial Insurance policy documents,” said Delage. “This will further reduce the amount of paper our brokers need to handle and will bring additional efficiencies to their everyday processes.”

When eDocs are used to their full potential, sending, receiving, sorting, scanning and destroying paper is no longer necessary, saving the industry significant amounts of time and money, said Catherine Smola, president and CEO of CSIO. When used in commercial lines, these savings are not only further realized but offer improved workflows resulting in an enhanced customer experience, she added.

“We congratulate Unica Insurance on obtaining CSIO Certification for eDocs, and for its initiative in implementing eDocs for commercial as well as personal lines,” said Smola. “With a certified solution available for both lines of business, Unica continues to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to investments in technology that streamline workflows and maximize efficiency for its broker partners.”

Unica Insurance is a subsidiary of La Capitale General Insurance, a major Canadian property and casualty insurer, based in Mississauga, Ont.
