Economical Insurance has given almost $12,000 in donations to the Canadian Red Cross to help those who have been displaced by the wildfires throughout BC.

The $11,730 donation is comprised of a $5,000 handout by the insurer combined with the donations of its employees. Economical also matched its employees’ donations – up to $100 per employee.

“Our colleagues all across Canada responded quickly and generously and, with company matching, our total contribution will go towards the ongoing efforts of the Canadian Red Cross here in BC,” said Economical Insurance regional vice-president of sales & distribution in BC Cheryl Edmunson.

“We have been on the ground since July 14 supporting our customers and broker partners at resiliency centres in the area of the wildfires,” Edmunson stated. “We are getting money into the hands of our customers displaced by the wildfires so they can be as comfortable as they can be until they are able to return home. Our claims people are meeting customers face-to-face to help restore their lives.”

Economical had previously deployed claims teams in areas heavily affected by the wildfires. Specifically, the company had dispatched teams to Prince George and Kamloops.
