Insurance Bureau of Canada has added Aviva’s Tracy Garrad and Swiss Re’s Jolee Crosby to its board of directors.

Travelers Canada president and chief executive Heather Masterson, who chairs the IBC board, said in a release: “The property and casualty insurance industry’s ability to navigate a changing and challenging world lies in our capacity to be strategic, agile, and focused on consumer solutions.

“We are delighted and proud to welcome Jolee Crosby and Tracy Garrad to our board. Their experience, vision, and leadership will strengthen our efforts to influence meaningful and positive change for our industry and the customers we serve.”

Crosby is Canada and English Caribbean CEO at Swiss Re, while Garrad is chief executive of Aviva Canada.

Garrad commented: “IBC offers insurers the opportunity to work together to help address some of the biggest challenges facing Canadians – from the devastating impacts of climate change, to the need for more sustainable auto insurance systems, and tackling auto theft.

“I’m excited to work alongside my fellow board members to advance solutions and put customers at the heart of all we do.”

The Swiss Re leader, meanwhile, had this to say: “The aim at Swiss Re is to make the world more resilient. We want to enable society to thrive and progress, creating new opportunities and solutions for our clients.

“These goals are aligned with IBC’s and, along with my fellow board members, I look forward to shaping and advancing policy solutions that better protect Canadians from risk.”
