Lloyd's coverholder Lions Gate Underwriting (LGU) has appointed Robbin Botnick as managing director (MD) and head of corporate development.

Botnick (pictured) is an insurance executive with over 25 years of experience. She joined LGU from Excess Underwriting, where she was the chief operating officer (COO). Previously, she served as MD at Linx Underwriting Solutions.

In previous roles, Botnick has grown broker-owned in-house insurance MGAs and private MGAs – specialising in commercial and personal lines of business – into profitable organisations with efficient operations.

As LGU's new managing director and head of corporate development, Botnick will use her knowledge of Lloyd's and the Canadian domestic market to expand the MGA's footprint across Canada. She will be based in Toronto and report to LGU Canada president Brian Gomes.

Gomes said: “LGU has experienced significant growth in recent years and has ambitious plans moving forward. The team is thrilled to welcome Robbin as we continue to scale the business.”

“I am delighted by the opportunity to join LGU and contribute to the strong culture and build out of the business,” said Botnick. “I am excited to join an organisation that is diverse, inclusive, and talented.”

Botnick entered LGU after the appointment of Brandon Witter as a senior underwriter of casualty and construction.
