Navacord has announced the appointment of Melanie Muise as president of personal & travel insurance.

The newly created position is slated to take effect from August 1 and is part of Navacord’s efforts to strengthen its presence in personal lines and travel insurance sectors. The role also provides Muise with executive leadership of Navacord’s growing travel insurance division.

Muise boasts an 18-year tenure in the industry. She has been serving as chief operations officer at Navacord since 2019, during which time the company achieved a track record of growth in personal lines, posting roughly $1 billion in premium.

“We are excited to have Melanie bring all of her experience to our personal and travel businesses,” said Shawn DeSantis, president and CEO of Navacord. “She has a proven capability to deliver results with her strategic thinking and leadership skills.”

“We are confident Melanie can apply her deep industry experience and executive leadership to build our personal and travel businesses even further,” added executive chairman T. Marshall Sadd.

In recent Navacord news, the brokerage entered a partnership with New Brunswick-based specialty brokerage Mitchell McConnell Insurance in a move to expand its presence in Atlantic Canada.

The firm also recently completed its biggest buy yet by acquiring RWAM Administrators and Programmed Insurance Brokers (PIB), which helped broaden its profile in the insurance and wealth management sectors.
