Navacord has launched a single national brand, bringing Acera Insurance and more than 50 legacy broker partners under one banner. The Toronto-based firm announced the move on Tuesday, saying it took effect Nov. 1.
The change supports Navacord’s stated goal of becoming Canada’s largest privately held insurance brokerage, employee benefits and wealth advisory firm. The company describes itself as the second-largest brokerage, benefits and wealth advisory firm in Canada and the country’s largest majority employee-owned brokerage.
“Today marks a defining moment in Navacord’s history. While our name and identity are evolving, our commitment to our clients, communities, and people remains unchanged,” said T. Marshall Sadd, executive chairman.
The unified brand brings together CA$7.2 billion in insurance and employee benefits premium, CA$7.5 billion in retirement assets under management, more than 5,000 employees and over 150 locations nationwide. Advisers cover commercial and personal insurance, benefits and financial services across industry specialties including construction, transportation, real estate, energy, dealerships, marine, travel, Indigenous clients and private client solutions.
“A unified Navacord connects specialty advisors from across the country,” said Shawn DeSantis, president and CEO. “Clients get the best of both worlds: advice close to home and the collective national strength of Navacord behind it.”
The launch also brings a refreshed visual identity, a redesigned website, a brand video and an advertising campaign.
Not every brand has changed. Operations in Atlantic Canada and the travel insurance group are expected to rebrand in 2027. Select specialty businesses will keep their established market-facing brands, though Navacord says those units remain fully integrated within the organisation. The release does not say how referrals or carrier relationships will change under the new structure.
The rebrand builds on earlier steps. Six brokerages were rebranded as Navacord on Nov. 1, 2025, described at the time as the first phase of a wider plan. Navacord and Acera announced the completion of their merger in early February, with Acera confirmed to adopt the Navacord name on Nov. 1.
The two vice chairmen addressed the central tension that large-scale consolidation creates for independent brokers directly. “Local relationships, entrepreneurial leadership, and specialized expertise will continue to define how we serve our clients,” said Andrew Kemp. Lee Rogers added: “Our brand goes far beyond a new name or logo.”
Navacord has been backed by private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners since 2018, and the unified brand is the clearest signal yet that the consolidation strategy is moving into its execution phase.
For brokers watching from the outside, the rebrand offers a live reference point on how a large consolidator plans to balance national reach with local relationships. The company’s model - regional governance, majority employee ownership, specialist sector teams - is designed to preserve what independent agencies value most while delivering scale that individual firms cannot match.
Whether the single identity changes how clients perceive the group, and how carriers allocate capacity and appetite to it, will be the test. The company’s promise is Local Touch. National Strength. The next phase will show whether a single name makes that easier or harder to deliver.
