Sompo International Holdings has named Harriet Harty executive vice-president and chief human resources officer for its commercial P&C operations.

Harty will have oversight of all human capital strategies across the company’s various P&C operations around the world. She will also lead all functional aspects of the human resources organization, a release added, which includes talent acquisition, talent management compensation, learning & development, HRIS, benefits, payroll, and business partner strategies.

In her new role, Harty will report to Sompo International chief administrative officer Brian Goshen.

“I am delighted that Harriet has joined our team during this time of growth at Sompo International,” commented Goshen on Harty’s appointment, noting that she is a proven senior HR leader with a reputation for partnering with business leaders to execute strategies, fostering culture, and delivering diversity & inclusion programs.

“She will play a key role in growing our organization in talent, geography and scale. All of us on the leadership team are looking forward to working with Harriet as we continue to build Sompo International into an even more relevant and key global player in the P&C market,” Goshen added.

Harty has more than 23 years of human resources experience, most recently serving as chief human resources officer for Allstate Insurance.

She received her bachelor's degree in accounting from Northeastern Illinois University, and her MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has the Certified Public Accountant designation. Harty is also currently serving on the board of the non-profit After School Matters, an organization dedicated to offering “life-changing opportunities” to high school teens in Chicago.
