Totten Insurance Group has acquired Anderson McTague & Associates, an MGA headquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Since 1937, Anderson McTague has served Atlantic Canada’s independent insurance brokers. The company is considered Canada’s longest-standing MGA coverholder for Lloyd’s, and was recognized as Canada’s 2017 “MGA of the Year” by Insurance Business Canada.

A release said that Anderson McTague provides customized solutions for a range of both standard and hard-to-place risks. Totten hopes to leverage Anderson McTague’s experience as a Lloyd’s coverholder, as well as the MGA’s knowledge of Atlantic Canada.

“Anderson McTague is the region’s most trusted MGA when it comes to hard-to-place-risk insurance products,” said Totten president Denis Dei Cont. “They have a team of experienced professionals that provide high-quality service and innovative solutions, and we are eager to leverage this combination of expertise and creativity to meet the needs of Atlantic Canada’s independent brokers.”

Chuck McTague, president of Anderson McTague, will join Totten and report to Dei Cont.

“The service commitment that we provide to our broker partners has always been our focus,” McTague said. “Joining Totten will not only help us continue to provide quick, efficient and customized products that our broker partners will appreciate, but it will also deepen our resources and capabilities.”
