Hub International has announced the acquisition of Alberta-based JRP Financial Services, Inc.

JRP is an independent benefits brokerage firm. Located in Calgary, it specializes in employee benefits, pension planning and human resources.

The team at JRP will become part of Hub Prairies, including benefits consultant Jason Conley and client relations specialist Lise Gaudreau.

Following the acquisition, the firm will go by JRP Financial Services, a Hub International company.

“Hub International Limited is committed to growing organically and through acquisitions to expand its geographic footprint and strengthen industry and product expertise,” the news release from Hub stated.

This latest Canadian acquisition follows Hub’s October swoop for the assets of Quebec-based D’Onofrio Insurance, an independent firm providing commercial and personal insurance.

It also recently named Liam Brown, the new leader of its healthcare and life sciences practice in Canada. Brown assumes the role following a tenure as vice president of life sciences and healthcare at Berkley Canada.

Hub is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. It employs over 17,000 people in offices across North America.

The brokerage has expanded its footprint within Canada through several other acquisitions, including Ontario-based cannabis insurance specialist GJJK and Golden Ears Insurance Services in British Columbia.
