Domestic & General (D&G) has announced that Matthew Crummack (pictured) has been appointed as its new chief executive officer.

Crummack will join the company’s board of directors and its executive committee on October 04, 2021.

He joins D&G from GoCo Group, which owns the price comparison website GoCompare.com. At GoCo, he served as group CEO from 2016. He left that business earlier this year after the company’s sale to publishing group Future plc. From 2011 to 2015, Crummack was CEO of travel and leisure business website lastminute.com. He has also held several senior roles at Expedia, Nestle, and Procter & Gamble.

“I’m delighted to be joining the fantastic team at D&G. This is a business with a powerful customer proposition that gives millions of people ‘repair or replace’ peace of mind when it comes to managing their home appliances,” commented Crummack on his appointment. “The business is seeing subscription growth both in its core UK and international markets because of that customer focus. My ambition is to build on this success, bringing my skills in digital to bear, as well as my wider corporate and international experience.”

Crummack is currently the senior independent non-executive director of National Express Group, a role he has held since May 2015.

Crummack’s appointment comes after the death of D&G’s previous CEO, Ian Mason.

“Since the sudden and tragic death of Ian Mason in April, my top priority has been to find a CEO of the highest quality to succeed Ian,” said D&G executive chairman David Tyler. “Matthew has exactly the combination of skills and experience we need at D&G as we deliver our ambitious growth strategy. He brings strong leadership and significant experience developing digital propositions for consumers. He has operated in global companies, and understands the dynamics of a strong customer-centric model rooted in subscriptions, which is what we have at D&G.”

As part of the appointment, David Tyler will step down from his position as executive chairman and return to his previous post of non-executive chairman once Crummack joins the business.
