The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network (iCAN) has unveiled “iCANapply,” the network’s collaboration with Aston Charles Recruitment Consultancy aimed at supporting multicultural hiring.

As part of the partnership, more than 700 iCAN members will be kept in the know when it comes to the latest insurance industry recruitment opportunities across the UK. The tie-up will also develop resources like whitepapers and blog posts on helpful topics such as interviewing techniques and CV writing.

“We are honoured to be working closely with Aston Charles to give this unique opportunity to our members,” stated iCAN co-chair Ajay Mistry (pictured), who is also partnerships director at Brokerbility.

“A key challenge the insurance industry faces is attracting young talent, building a diverse talent pool, and keeping that talent within our sector. Through exciting initiatives such as this, we provide support and resources, and enable the many interesting job opportunities for our sector to be that much more available for our members and the multicultural community as a whole.”

Commenting on the initiative, Aston Charles director Richard Jones said supporting multiculturalism and inclusion in the insurance industry is a key focus for the recruitment specialist, “as it is for many companies currently.”

He added: “Given this, it is a huge pleasure to work with Kishan [Mangat], Ajay, and everyone at iCAN in this new partnership. We look forward to supporting iCAN members with relevant resources, and announcing many exciting roles over the weeks and months ahead.”

According to Mangat, iCAN co-chair and senior associate at DWF LLP, feedback from the network points to how more needs to be done so that “the brightest and most talented multicultural individuals are not lost to other industries.”

She said the partnership will provide iCAN members access to the wealth of career opportunities that lie in the insurance sector.

“As part of our year of ‘impact’ we are extremely excited to announce this collaboration,” noted Mangat. “Thank you also to everyone at Aston Charles for their proactive attitude and innovative approach in making this initiative happen.”
