The London Business Interruption Association (LBIA) celebrated the return of its annual dinner on Thursday, July 7. This marks the first time the event was held face-to-face since March 2020.

More than 400 guests attended the dinner, held at the Brewery in Chiswell Street, with Shaparak Khorsandi as guest speaker. LBIA president Vivienne Hexter welcomed guests back and spoke about the association’s work over the last two years.

According to Hexter, while there are undoubtedly benefits from meeting in person, the association’s ability to pivot to live online learning and lectures enabled it to deliver a range of topical lectures and technical seminars to a greater number of attendees from a much wider geographical area.

Hexter said that the past two years have shown that there is a strong interest for more learning opportunities beyond London. In response, LBIA will transition to an individual membership system that is no longer solely reliant on corporate London representatives, beginning September. The move will open membership to all insurance professionals that seek to enhance their knowledge of business interruption coverages. Hexter also assured members and guests that LBIA will continue holding in-person events when appropriate.
