Travel insurance broker forays into home

Just Travel Cover, a North East England broker specialising in travel insurance, is no longer just about travel. After 21 years, the firm has ventured into home coverage with the help of insurance heavyweights.

The policy, which is available either as standard or premier, is provided by Fairmead Insurance Limited – the new name used by Legal & General Insurance Limited since the start of the year when it became part of LV= General Insurance under the ownership of Allianz UK.

Under a trademark licencing agreement, though, Legal & General branding continues to be used even after Legal & General Group Plc’s sale of its general insurance business.

“We have been looking at ways to diversify for some time now to help our clients with more than their travel insurance but it was important to find the right partner,” stated Just Travel Cover director Daley Gore, whose camp has assisted more than one million passengers since 1999.

“We know getting home insurance can be a laborious process, so we wanted to simplify it as much as possible – we believe the ease and speed of getting a quotation by answering just five questions online and the ability to spread the cost, interest-free, will appeal to our clients; then the quality of cover speaks for itself, backed by a household name people know they can trust.”

Ninety-second home insurance quotes are provided via the broker’s newly launched JustHomeInsurance.com page, which leverages SmartQuote technology. Both the standard and premier versions offer up to £1 million in buildings cover as well as £60,000 or £80,000 contents cover, while the premier policy includes home emergency cover and accidental damage.

Commenting on the tie-up, Fairmead Insurance intermediary head Sarah Watts said: “We’re delighted to partner with Just Travel Cover, which is a very well-respected travel insurance business. SmartQuote for partnerships via our intermediary channel will provide a simple and easy home insurance journey for their customers.”

Watts added that the proposition “will sit perfectly” alongside Just Travel Cover’s current offering.
