Canal Insurance Company has announced the addition of Patrick J Mullen (pictured above) to its board of directors, with his tenure in effect since March 8, 2024.

Mullen currently occupies the role of director of strategic capital partnerships at Arctaris Impact Investors, a private equity firm based in Boston, where he spearheads the company’s efforts from its Salt Lake City, Utah, office.

Mullen’s professional background also includes co-founding and serving as managing director of investing at Sorenson Impact, as well as contributing to the Sorenson Impact Foundation between 2010 and 2017.

He further honed his skills during his tenure as chair of the Opportunity Zone Task Force for the State of Utah, where he played a key role in attracting private capital investments into underprivileged communities. Mullen’s global experience spans several continents, including work in India, East Africa, and Latin America, where he has utilized his expertise to assist early-stage companies in growth and development phases.

His academic credentials include a BS in finance from Westminster College, from which he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017.

Mullen’s appointment also marks a significant familial milestone as he becomes the first fourth-generation family member to join the Canal Insurance Company board of directors.

Paul Brocklebank, the recently appointed chairman of Canal’s board of directors, expressed confidence in Mullen’s contributions.

“His entrepreneurial mindset and deep understanding of financial markets will serve to benefit the organization. As the first 4th generation director, he’ll play an important part in sustaining the cultural advantages Canal has as a family-owned organization,” Brocklebank said.
