Canal Insurance Company has announced the appointment of Paul Brocklebank (pictured above) as chairman of its board of directors. The appointment took effect on March 7. Brocklebank succeeds former chairman Lanse Crane.

He will also continue in his role as the company’s president and CEO. He boasts past experience at the likes of Royal Sun Alliance and United National Group.

“I cannot think of a better person to lead Canal Insurance Company at this exciting and important time,” Crane said. “Paul brings unique value to Canal through his vision and deep knowledge of both the company and the industry. He has earned the widespread trust and respect of Canal’s shareholders, employees and board of directors.”

Canal specializes in providing insurance for commercial trucking and specialty transportation.

The company has been in business for 80 years and has specialisms including auto liability, truckers general liability, cargo coverages and physical damage. It serves both general agents and the commercial transportation sector and is based in Greenville, South Carolina.
