Aflac has named Stephanie L. Shields as senior vice president of the company’s broker sales in the US.

Shields will report to executive vice-president and chief distribution officer Richard L. Williams Jr. In her new role, she will help in the execution of Aflac’s broker strategy by “leading a talented team of broker sales professionals and leveraging Aflac’s strong relationships with national and regional insurance brokers,” a release said.

“I’m excited about Aflac’s broker sales growth with Stephanie leading the team. She has consistently delivered strong results, innovative solutions and strategies, and I am confident this will continue in her new role,” Williams said in a statement.

Shields joined Aflac in 2014 – then as vice-president of strategy, product and marketing. Most recently, she served as vice-president of the company’s Premier Broker and Product Solutions.

Prior to joining Aflac, she held a number of positions of increasing responsibility with Cigna, including the role of vice-president, Cigna Voluntary Segment Leader. Before Cigna, Shields worked for Willis Towers Watson.

Shields received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biobehavioral Health from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Drexel University.
