Clearsurance, an online community of insurance customers, has released a list of the states with the happiest – and least happy – holders of homeowners’ insurance policies.

Clearsurance analyzed data from its online, crowdsourced ratings and review platform to compile the list. It found that West Virginia homeowners are happiest with their insurance policies, giving their insurance companies an average rating of 4.47 out of five stars. Meanwhile, Florida homeowners are the least satisfied, rating their insurers an average of 4.03 stars.

The scores were based on users’ ratings of their overall experience with their insurer, the service, their likelihood to renew with the company and their likelihood to recommend it to a friend.

According to Clearsurance, several factors contributed to the results – particularly weather considerations. Policyholders in the happiest states only mentioned weather-related incidents in their reviews about 4% of the time, while those in the least happy states mentioned weather nearly twice as much.
