Brit has announced the appointment of John King as chief underwriting officer for Brit Global Specialty USA (BGSU). King moves to BGSU from his current role as group executive underwriter at Brit Global Specialty in London.

King will be based in Chicago and will report to Nick Davies, president of BGSU. In his new role, King will continue to work closely with Christiern Dart, Brit’s group chief underwriting officer.

King, who joined Brit in 2009, has more than 30 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Brit, he served as a production underwriter at Beazley and played a key role in the build-out of its US platform. He began his career at Marsh, where he served as senior vice president and led the US property broking team in London.

“We are pleased to welcome John to BGSU as chief underwriting officer, and we look forward to building on BGSU’s strong growth trajectory,” Davies said. “John’s appointment will ensure that this growth continues to be underpinned by Brit’s underwriting discipline.”

“Our US business has seen continued development over the last year, and John’s appointment will further complement the significant progress being made on the ambitious strategy we have for our US platform,” said Brit CEO Matthew Wilson.
