The American Insurance Association (AIA) has revealed a new member has joined the association: CNA Financial Corporation.

Dino Robusto, CNA chairman and chief executive officer, was also voted in to serve as a member of AIA’s board of directors.

“AIA is thrilled to welcome CNA as a member,” said AIA president and CEO John Degnan. “CNA will bring an enormous amount of insight and experience to the table as AIA continues to address the issues that matter most to property-casualty insurers and the customers they serve.”

“CNA is excited to join AIA, and we look forward to partnering with the association to address public policy issues affecting the industry and its policyholders,” Robusto commented.

With over 100 years of business insurance experience, CNA is one of the major names in America’s property-casualty insurance space. Founded in Detroit in 1897, the company is 90% owned by holding company Loews Corporation, which also has interests in offshore oil and gas drilling rigs, natural gas transmission pipelines, oil and gas exploration, and even hotel operations.

Currently, the AIA’s membership is comprised of more than 320 companies which write over $125 billion in premiums each year.
