Combined Insurance, a Chubb company, has announced the appointment of former US Marine commanding officer Bob Wiedower to the position of vice president of sales development and military programs.

According to a company statement, Wiedower will be responsible for facilitating key sales development and support initiatives. He is also expected to make significant contributions to the firm’s nationwide military sales markets, as well as its military/veteran program.

The company has an ongoing program that provides employment to war veterans. Combined Insurance has hired more than 3,000 veterans and their family members in various capacities throughout the organization since 2014. It has set a target of adding 3,000 more such employees to its ranks by 2018, the firm said.

“Bob has more than 30 years of experience as a proven military and business leader and we are excited to welcome him to our team,” Combined Insurance chief agency officer Doug Abercrombie noted in the statement.

Wiedower was previously affiliated with the USAA, serving in sales, marketing and operations roles. He is also a decorated veteran, after more than 20 years in the US Marine Corps from which he retired as a Commanding Officer.
