A Connecticut man who continued to present himself as an insurance agent after the state pulled his license is headed to prison for nearly four years.

Anthony Sciarra pleaded guilty to wire fraud, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Prosecutors say he scammed people out of more than $874,000.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, Sciarra operated a company called AGS Financial between 2001 and 2012. The firm offered insurance, securities and other financial products, the Chronicle reported. However, the state revoked Sciarra’s insurance license during that time.

Sciarra fraudulently presented himself as an insurance agent for years, according to the publication. He also, through AGS and another entity, solicited investments from at least a dozen investors, then used the money for himself.
