The latest round of executive appointments across the insurance and benefits sector includes new leadership roles at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana, American Coastal Insurance Corporation and Alliant Insurance Services. The moves span health, property and employee benefits.

Anthem Blue Cross names new commercial state plan president

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana has appointed Jessica Lopez‑Liggett (pictured, left) as commercial state plan president, succeeding Beth Keyser, who now serves as West Region commercial president for the company.

Lopez‑Liggett most recently served as regional vice president of sales for Anthem in Indiana, where she helped drive market strategy, deepen broker and employer relationships, and support growth across the commercial portfolio.

“I’m honored to serve as commercial president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana,” Lopez-Liggett said. “I’m proud to lead a talented team dedicated to supporting our members, employer clients, and care provider partners. Together, we will continue advancing access to high‑quality, affordable healthcare across our state.”

American Coastal Insurance Corporation names group CUO

American Coastal Insurance Corporation (ACIC) has appointed Troy Crawford (pictured, right) as chief underwriting officer. 

Crawford was named chief underwriting officer of the company's unit, American Coastal Insurance, in January 2025. In his expanded role, he will continue to oversee American Coastal's portfolio performance while taking on responsibility for underwriting functions at the holding company level.

Crawford brings more than 30 years of experience managing large property and casualty P&L portfolios at major national and regional carriers, including Nationwide Insurance, The Hartford and Westfield.

Alliant taps Mike Underwood for new Affinity employee benefits role

Alliant Insurance Services has hired Mike Underwood as vice president within its Employee Benefits Group, where he will serve on the newly established Alliant Affinity team.

Based in the Washington, D.C. metro area, Underwood will focus on expanding Alliant’s reach in the affinity market.

Underwood’s work centers on member and organizational benefits planning for associations and their members, helping them maximize value across multiple lines to drive participation and engagement. His experience spans financial services, insurance planning and benefits design, including extensive work on benefits planning for veterans and active military personnel.
