A wave of appointments have been announced across the US insurance sector.

HUB creates national cross-sell role

HUB International has appointed Kyle Bloemers (pictured left) as national chief cross-sell officer in a newly created position designed to drive enterprise-wide growth. Bloemers will lead a cross-sell strategy spanning commercial lines, employee benefits, private client and retirement and private wealth across HUB’s 34 regions in North America.

Markel restructures marine, energy and construction

Markel International has appointed Dan McCarthy (pictured center) as managing director of its newly structured marine, energy and construction division in London Market. The insurer said the reorganization is meant to create clearer accountability, improve ease of trading and give brokers simpler access to specialist underwriting expertise across marine, cargo, energy, power, construction and engineering.

EPIC promotes natural resources chair

EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants has elevated James R. Pierce (pictured right) to chairman of its national natural resources practice. Since joining as senior adviser in 2025, Pierce has helped expand the firm’s standing in the sector. EPIC said he will now focus on strengthening capabilities, recruiting talent and broadening the practice’s reach across energy and renewables.

BHSI expands marine leadership across North America, UK

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has promoted Ben Wyatt to head of marine for North America and the UK, broadening his remit beyond the US to include oversight of the UK and Canada.

The insurer said the move is intended to bring greater alignment across its marine platform and strengthen underwriting, strategy and portfolio management across the regions. Wyatt will work closely with Nick Holding, head of marine UK, as Holding moves towards retirement in June. BHSI also promoted Gregg Shannon to vice-president, contractors equipment and inland marine, and Jim Norman to vice-president, inland marine.

Patriot names new chief people officer

Patriot Growth Insurance Services has appointed Andrea Brogger as chief people officer, handing her responsibility for talent management, executive compensation, succession planning, organizational development and producer development. Patriot said Brogger’s experience at AssuredPartners, Broadstreet Partners and TrueBlue will support its next phase of growth as it builds out a high-performance culture.

Boston Mutual Life appoints distribution lead

Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company has named Jack Douglas executive vice-president of distribution, effective June 8. Douglas brings more than 30 years of insurance and sales leadership experience, including prior roles at Assurity, Allstate Benefits, Colonial Life and Unum. The company said he will lead its sales team and help drive growth across workplace insurance channels.

Brown & Riding adds to MPL practice

Brown & Riding has brought Christopher Goettelmann into its national management and professional liability practice. Goettelmann, who has nearly three decades of industry experience, specializes in professional liability with a focus on hard-to-place errors and omissions risks.

USQRisk promotes new president

USQRisk has promoted Chris Giuffre to president with immediate effect, expanding the executive leadership team as the managing general underwriter looks to meet growing demand for structured insurance, reinsurance and capital solutions.

Michael Zipper will step down from the title of president but remain co-chief executive alongside Parag Abvishi. Giuffre co-founded USQRisk in 2020 and most recently served as chief strategy officer following the firm’s acquisition by Ryan Specialty in May 2025. In his new role, he will continue leading USQRisk’s fronting and capital solutions business.
