K2 Insurance Services has completed its acquisition of the assets and operations of Mid-America Risk Managers (MARM) in Omaha, NE.
MARM is a farm and agricultural-focused specialty general agency that distributes specialty insurance products through independent agents and brokers, a release said. The firm – which has been in business for more than 20 years – is one of the largest program managers of coverage for Center Pivot Irrigation Sprinklers in the country.
As a specialty general agency, MARM underwrites insurance products on behalf of members of Great American Insurance Group, The Travelers Indemnity Company and Century Insurance Group.
MARM will continue to distribute its Center Pivot and Farm Owners Package products, as well as offering complementary product offerings from K2 partner companies. A company release also noted that the firm will partner with carriers looking to mitigate their exposure to the volatility of those farm risks.
Paul Friskopp, the founder and president of MARM, will continue to serve as president of the unit following the transaction. Kerry Besnia, formerly of Great American Insurance Group, joins MARM to help the underwriter with its program.
