Liberty Mutual Insurance’s Edward Peña (pictured) has been appointed senior vice-president and treasurer.
Peña succeeds Laurance H.S. Yahia, who announced his retirement effective April 03, 2020.
Peña first joined Liberty Mutual in 2017 as vice-president and director of investor relations. In 2019, he was later given additional responsibilities over managing the company’s debt and liquidity strategy. Prior to joining Liberty Mutual, he served as vice-president of finance at ProSight Specialty Insurance.
He has also held roles at J.P Morgan, where he advised investment bank financial institution clients on M&A and capital structuring. Peña also worked at Corporate Treasury in financial and regulatory reporting roles and has an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a degree in economics and history from Yale University.
“Ed is a proven leader with the expertise, influence and innovative thinking to continue driving impact and opportunity for our company,” said Liberty Mutual chairman and CEO David Long.
Long also thanked Yahia, who has served as the company’s treasurer since 2003, for his “tremendous contributions.” Yahia joined Liberty Mutual in 1984 and has since held roles of increasing responsibility in various departments such as legal, mergers & acquisitions, investor relations, and treasury services.
