Liberty Mutual Re (LM Re), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced the appointment of Alice Sharman (pictured above) as senior underwriter for casualty reinsurance.
In her new role, Sharman is responsible for underwriting LM Re’s US casualty treaty portfolio, based in London. She succeeds Max Mallen, who was recently promoted to the newly created role of head of portfolio management – London and the rest of the world. Sharman will report to Ralph Stainbank, underwriting manager for reinsurance casualty.

“Alice is a very welcome addition to our casualty underwriting team,” Stainbank said. “Her broad experience and strong broker relationships will strengthen our offering and add real depth to our underwriting capabilities.”
Sharman has more than 10 years of reinsurance experience, beginning in actuarial and capital modeling before moving to underwriting. She joins LM Re from AXA XL, where she served as casualty reinsurance underwriter.
