The new roles represent MMA’s next phase of growth, which is focused on optimizing organic sales and marketing capabilities across the company’s more than 130 locations, while expanding the services provided to acquired agencies and producer hires.
Handmaker will be based in Schaumburg, IL, while Reeves will be based in San Diego. Both will report to Bill Jeatran, president of MMA.
“In just 13 years, MMA has become one of the nation’s leading insurance brokers serving midsize businesses and individuals,” Jeatran said. “Steve and Trindl are proven leaders who understand the increasingly complex needs of our clients. I am confident they will provide the centralized infrastructure and united vision to drive further meaningful organic growth and lead MMA forward into its next chapter.”
Handmaker has led marketing and communications for Assurance, MMA’s Midwest hub, since 2004, and was appointed chief marketing officer for Assurance in 2013. Under Handmaker’s leadership, Assurance received more than 100 local and national awards for employee engagement and workplace culture. In 2015, he was named chair of the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers’ first committee on marketing and communications.
Reeves joined MMA (then legacy agency Barney & Barney) in 2006 and has been chief sales officer of the company’s West region since 2010. Previously, she served as managing director for Marsh’s offices in San Diego and Newport Beach, CA. Since becoming chief sales officer for the region, Reeves helped to increase revenue fourfold. She was also responsible for creating GROW, an initiative to increase female representation and leadership within the company. In 2011, she was awarded the Athena Pinnacle Award for her efforts to advance and promote women at the firm.
