Global insurance broker Marsh has announced the appointment of Robert Bauer (pictured) as practice leader for the company’s US Sharing Economy and Mobility Practice. In his new role, Bauer will develop and deliver products and services to industries operating in the new economy. He will work with experts across Marsh, including the company’s digital, data and analytics team.

Bauer previously worked at AIG, most recently serving as general insurance head of innovation and AIG’s sharing economy group. At Marsh, Bauer will be based in San Francisco and report to Jeffrey Alpaugh, growth and industry leader for the company’s US and Canada division.

“Marsh continues to invest in top talent to help clients proactively address emerging risks from participating in the sharing economy and autonomous mobility industry,” Alpaugh said. “With Rob joining Marsh, we will be even better positioned to advise clients on solutions and strategies needed to address this dynamic sector’s evolving risk landscape.”

“For the founders, funders and participants in the new economy, good risk management and well-structured insurance is critical to their long-term success,” Bauer said. “I’m looking forward to working with Marsh’s industry-leading team of experts to deliver innovative solutions to our clients.”
