Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company has been recognized as one of the world’s most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute.

It is the fifth consecutive year the firm has featured on the institute’s “World’s Most Ethical Companies” list. This year, the insurer is one of only a handful to make the list from the industry – others include Anthem, AllState, Aflac, Arthur J Gallagher & Co, HCSC, Knights of Columbus, Pacific Life, The Hartford, being featured for the 10th time, USAA, WPS Health Solutions and non-profit health insurance providers Blue California, Bon Secours, Cambia and CareFirst.

To determine it honorees, the Ethisphere Institute examines companies’ corporate governance, compliance and ethics programs, citizenship, sustainability, corporate responsibility, leadership, innovation and overall reputation.

“MassMutual’s commitment to ethics and integrity has been in place since we wrote our first policy more than 166 years ago,” said Roger Crandall, MassMutual president, chairman and CEO. “Being named one of the world’s most ethical companies for the fifth consecutive year is an honor for our talented, dedicated employees and advisors who work hard each day to do the right thing, and reflects the confidence and trust that our five million customers have placed in us.”

This year Ethisphere named 135 companies to its list, spanning 23 countries and 57 industries.
