The National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) has named Meka Moore as the first president of the association’s new Los Angeles chapter.

Moore is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Selman Breitman LLP, under the firm’s insurance coverage practice group. She helps insurers in coverage-related matters involving first- and third-party cases arising from policies, such as P&C, E&O, and general liability. Moore also has experience in defending insurers in disputes involving complex extracontractual issues and suspected fraud, in addition to offering counsel on coverage matters involving sexual abuse claims.

Currently, Moore is serving as national coordinating counsel for COVID 19 litigation.

“The NAAIA is excited to launch a new chapter in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and looks forward to the opportunity to partner with other insurance industry and community organizations in Los Angeles,” said NAAIA vice chair George Woods. “We have a chapter in this city, thanks to Meka Moore.”

Woods noted that it was under Moore that NAAIA experienced steady growth in its Los Angeles membership for the past two years. Moore also helped the association land partnerships with two insurance organizations, the vice chair added.

“Under Ms. Moore’s leadership as the chapter president, we see a great future ahead for this chapter and the metropolitan community it will serve,” stated Woods.

“Meka’s vast experience in insurance law and her connections with the insurance industry, both locally and nationally, will prove valuable in her role as the leader of the local NAAIA chapter and as a mentor for the future generation of insurance professionals,” commented Selman Breitman founder and managing partner Neil Selman, who prefaced that Selman Breitman has supported local NAAIA activities following Moore’s example and that he is proud that Moore and her colleagues are “building such a great organization.”
