PEMCO Mutual Insurance has named Sharlyn Petit as its latest internal communications manager.
In her new role, Petit will drive employee engagement via corporate initiatives and programs to strengthen the workforce’s connection to the PEMCO brand, its mission, and its values. She will also join PEMCO’s marketing and communication team as part of her appointment.
Petit joined PEMCO in 2009 and has held a number of roles since, such as being a part of human resources. Most recently, she was a communications and impact manager. In that role, she helped execute communication strategies and project goals for PEMCO’s Mutual Good organization, as well as its diversity and inclusion initiatives.
“In the past decade, we’ve seen Sharlyn cultivate her skills as a relationship-focused, community-minded leader and we are excited to welcome her to this role,” said PEMCO corporate communications manager John Burgess.
She earned her bachelor of arts degree in writing and anthropology from Pacific Lutheran University. Petit also completed the University of Washington’s certificate in editing program, focusing on digital content strategy.
Petit is currently serving on the steering committee for Puget Sound’s Workplace Community Engagement Network. She is also an active member of the International Association of Business Communicators, and a freelance writer and editor who contributes for publications such as ParentMap.
