QBE North America has promoted Mark Pasko to the role of chief legal officer, effective immediately.

He will lead QBE’s North America legal department, supporting the company’s business goals and focusing on enhanced performance, a release said. Pasko will also join QBE North America’s executive committee, where he will oversee corporate governance, litigation, compliance, regulatory relations, intellectual property, and labor and employment law.

As chief legal officer, Pasko will jointly report to QBE North America CEO Todd Jones and group general counsel and company secretary Carolyn Scobie.

Pasko most recently served as the company’s senior vice-president and general counsel, business unit support. He first joined QBE in 2016, bringing with him more than two decades of experience in counseling legal, regulatory, and compliance needs of property and casualty insurance companies.

“After executing a very competitive search of both internal and external candidates, we are pleased to recognize Mark’s extensive experience and vital contributions to our organization with this promotion,” said Jones, who added that Pasko’s “proven leadership and deep knowledge” of the company positions QBE to better execute its strategies and catch more business opportunities.

“Mark’s deep legal, governance and management expertise, along with his wealth of insurance industry experience, make him a perfect fit for this important role,” commented Scobie, who also mentioned that Pasko will create value and manage risk for the organization via strong legal guidance.
